remove disc from player
press (on remote control): arrow up, arrow up, arrow down, arrow down, arrow right, arrow left, number of region (in your case 1)
You should choose a 'true' region (1, 2, etc.) for newer DVDs as most of them are protected against "hacked" players instead of using 0 (region-free player).
