1. Press the Open button on your remote control

2. Using your remote control, press the buttons 2, 8, 1 and 2, in order, one at a time

3. Press the Close button on your remote control

VCD/SVCD Hack

Load disc and as soon as tray closes press the "GOTO" button on the remote approx 7-8 times until the VCD/SVCD menu drops down from the top of the screen. If the 'incorrect disk format' message appears, eject, reload and go again.
