1. Insert the region 1 disk and press play ('Wrong region' will display on screen)
2. Press the 'display' button on remote.
3. Goto the TC entry and enter 05
4. Press Play

Not a permanent hack but at least it works.

Open tray, press 0 0 0 0 then select reg 0- verify by opening tray and pressing display.
