Macrovision in lamens terms is a hidden signal that stops you from duplicating your dvd's or vhs tapes "copying tape to tape or dvd to dvd or a mixture of the two" .
Whilst being a good thing in that it stops piracy etc it also a bad thing as sometimes it may interfear with TV signal and picture quality.
